As a publicity stunt, things don't get much cooler than having a big-name actor give an in-character performance in your car. That's what happening with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is lending his voice to the mobile crowd-sourced traffic and navigation app Waze to promote the new Terminator movie.

I managed to download.RGN files with British voices, Daniel and Emily but I noticed that the voice files on my Garmin are in a different format.vpm and.sum. Is there any way to convert the RGN files to.VPM and.SUM files or is there a way to install the files? I have the connector plugin and Garmin Express installed but neither of these. But the former governor of California is far from the first big celeb or major fictional character to get into the directions-giving game. In fact, he's not even the first one to do it for Waze—that was comedian Kevin Hart, who provided turn-by-turn commentary for the app in 2013 (to pimp his flick with Ice Cube, Ride Along.)

Using celebrity/character voices in navigation systems goes back almost a decade, and features some of the biggest names in the world. Check out the slideshow for our collection of the greatest and geekiest. Most are still available for purchase (or free), particularly if you have a compatible Garmin or TomTom navigation system (check compatibility before you buy). How this hasn't become a thing for Google and Apple Maps on phones yet, I don't know. Maybe Drake can record one for Apple soon.

Garmin Nuvi 2597 Voices Downloads

View As:
  • 1Darth Vader and Yoda

No two characters better represent the dreaded Sith and the heroic Jedi than these two. Recorded for TomTom in 2010, they're still available there (both for $12.95), and for Garmin ($9.95 each). Also available: C3PO and Han Solo! (I want to believe that's really Harrison Ford.)
  • 2The Simpsons

Homer and Marge and Mr. Burns are all available as separate voices on Garmin ($10.99 each) or TomTom ($12.95 each) so that when you miss a destination, you get that highly appropriate 'D'OH!'
  • 3Mr. T

We seriously pity the fool who doesn't have this excellent voice on their GPS. He's available for $12.95 on TomTom's PLUS Services
  • 4Looney Tunes

Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam.. legends all. And all legends you can have tell you were to go on a TomTom for $12.95 each. Little bits of the classic Looney Tunes themes makes it all the sweeter to get to Albuquerque, Doc.
  • 5K.I.T.T.

You might think of actor William Daniels as the guy from Boy Meets World. But for years, he was also a TV doctor, and before that, he was a car. Specifically, the sarcastic voice to the talking vehicle on Knight Rider. Now, he can sarcastically tell you what exit to take (if you've got a TomTom and $12.95).
  • 6Wallace & Gromit

The greatest Claymation stars of all time (if you don't believe me, go watch The Wrong Trousers) lend their voices to GPS. Well, Wallace does, as Gromit's not much of a talker. They're a bargain on Garmin for $8.99, but still $12.95 at TomTom.
  • 7GlaDOS

It's not official, but there's a voice out there perfectly mimicking that of GlaDOS, the homicidal AI from the Portal video games. Luckily, this GPS voice, created by a user on Reddit, apparently doesn't make you drive off a bridge like the real one. This is a free download for Garmin and TomTom units.. if you can find a working link. Oh, I found one, but it'll cost you $9.97.
  • 8Arnold—The Govenator

Arnold's already on your GPS? Sort of. There's a huge collection of NSFW, non-politically correct, celeb and character parody voices for GPS to be found at Pig Tones. Arnold is just one of them. Typical voices include Pagoda (a Yoda pastiche), Capt. Jack, a filthy-mouthed drill sergeant, Beavis & Butthead, Sean Connery, Gollum, Obama, Dubya, and yes, GlaDOS. Also: Jesus with appropriately heavenly echo. Every voice they have is $9.97 for TomTom or Garmin units.

How to get Homer Simpson (& Others) Voice on Garmin GPS

After I spent the day working my butt off, people asked me to do a post so whenever someone else needs it they could find it by searching on google (If this type of post is not ok I'll delete it right away mods).

So, if you're here that must mean you'd love to have Homer (or any other available character) himself giving you directions to your daily adventures!

And here's what you need: A Garmin GPS (some older models may not work, I couldn't find much info on this)

A PC

JetMouse 1.5 KeyGen with checksum fix

Voice files ( something something .VPM)

First, to explain how things work: Garmin uses VPM files to provide the commands, they are the actual voices you hear.

Some VPM files are locked (when you needed to purchase them), nowadays Garmin Voices have been discontinued, so I really don't know if it's illegal to share them.

To unlock the files and allow your GPS to play them, you need a UNL file.

A UNL file is simply a notepad file with a number (your key) and you save it as .UNL instead of .txt.

Now, you know how everything works, let's get cooking!

First download all the programs you need and connect your GPS to your PC.

Then, on the file explorer, open your GPS and look for a folder named 'Garmin', inside should have a file named 'Garmin.xml' in that file (which can be viewed on the internet or notepad) you can find your product ID, copy it.

Open jetmouse, place your unit ID on the Unit iD box and scroll down to select map product, click on it and go all the way to custom map, that will open another window with the following boxes:

Connie francis never on sunday download mp3. FID, PID, RGNID and VENID

for Homer's voice, you should use these settings (also check the little box to allow editing on PID) (other voices uses different settings)

FID: 480 PID: 25 RGNID: 0 VENID: 0

Click the second generate code button (the one at the bottom)

That should generate your UNL code.

Open a new file on notepad and copy that code, nothing else.

Save it as a .unl file (check if it's not saved as .unl.txt by clicking to show extensions)(also, save it with the exact name as the VPM file)

Okay, almost over :D

Copy both the UNL and VPM to your garmin device, on the folder 'Voices'.

If everything was done correctly it should show up in the voices tab at settings inside your GPS :)

If it did not show up, most likely it was an issue with your UNL code, do it again, check everything and try again, try other voices, if nothing works, your GPS might not support it.

Adding Vehicles:

This is pretty much straight-forward, just copy the file into your GPS' Vehicles folder :)

Here are some links that should help you:

(Google drive folder with JetMouse, homer's voice and car) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/15ZH-8pTQZBoJCdfchb28bU6uYwxa6AQM?usp=sharing

Onedrive link (Same as Google Drive, kinda like a backup)

(I went to download the Keygen from Google drive and it said the file had a virus, my computer did not detect anything wrong with it, but just to be sure).

Have fun with your new pals on your daily drives :D

Edit:Some fixes and I screwed the title, oh boy.

Edit 2: on the keygen folder in google drive, there's another program, infoUC, use that to verify if the code provided by JetMouse is correct.

Edit 3: Added: Yoda, Wallace & Gromit and Cookie Monster :D

Edit 4: I've updated the link and I'll add a second one from Onedrive
