The cIOS (custom IOS) is a custom piece of software that is used by some applications that work with unofficial content. By installing it, you can for example use Backup.

USB Loader GX black screen when booting Wii games

Coming back for more troubleshooting.

I recently modded my wii and I'm using:

Dolphin Emulator Wiimote Disconnects

  • USB Loader GX v3.0 rev 1256

  • IOS 249 (Rev 21010) + AHB (d2x v10beta53-alt base 56)

  • Nintendont v3.381

  • WD MyBook 2TB USB2.0 drive (reviewed most compatible drive with Softmodded Wiis)

All of my gamecube games are successfully loading with full controller functionality. I recently migrated 200 games to the HDD. I migrated using Wii Backup Manager. I added all the wbfs and iso files to the WBM list, then Transfer>WBFS file.. and selected the wbfs folder on the HDD. The files all appear as E:/wbfs/Game Name [gameID]/[gameID.wbfs]. I then downloaded all covers, disc art, and banners available for the titles.

When launching, I get a black screen, and then nothing. The console does not switch off, it does not return to the HBC, it does not return to the loader, and the wiimote disconnects.

Solutions I have tried:

  • [Loading games with IOS 250 instead of 249]

I'm at a loss. Where do I begin troubleshooting?

Edit:

Dolphin
  1. Project M (NTSC U)was recently loaded using WBM and works flawlessly without changing any settings

  2. Skyword Sword (PAL) works after changing Video settings to Force NTSC480p

  3. Super Smash Bros Brawl (NTSC U) works without changing any settings

  4. Testing various titles on Dolphin, and it looks like they either won't start or they start a ton of errors. The games that I've verified to work on the console work on Dolphin as well. Is it possible for the WBM and the Wii to be able to detect games even if they're corrupted or damaged?

  5. The games that I had gotten from a friend's backup must be damaged somehow. I had backed up my 50 or so games from my personal collection and added his collection to my HDD using the manager. It seems like none of the games he gave me work. How to program in basic. What may have caused this and how do I fix it?
