While the competition is steep, this SES team is equipped to get the job done, led by the dynamic pitching duo of Kate and Taylor Weis, who have been dominant throughout much of the season, boasting a combined ERA of just over 2.0. In addition to a Senior laden lineup featuring veterans like Karis Calahan, Carter Brull and Morgan Thaxton, who round out a balanced SES team, with their sights set on a state title. To advance to the semi-final however, Southeast will have to slay a juggernaut in Silver Lake. The Eagles won three consecutive state titles from 2013-2015, losing a total of just three games during that run. After a two year absence from the tournament, the Eagles return this season boasting a 20-3 record and the No.3 seed in the bracket. The Silver Lake lineup earned the nickname “The Bomb Squad,” after eight of the nine batters in the lineup went deep in a double header against Riley County earlier this season.
The winner of this 7:00 showdown will await the survivor of Cheney vs. Osage City on Friday at 11am.
All SES state softball games will be broadcast live on 910 AM & 94.5 FM (KINA). Be sure to keep it locked to Salina Post for all the latest as the tournament progresses.
